early 60's "surf rock" drummers could hold their own too

Rolling Stone pronounced Sandy Nelson " Father of the Drums" in August '82

not the best Wipeout, but probably the best Wipeout drum solo

of course these solos had to meet the restraints of the 45 RPM single so they are shorter, but no less energetic
